Why "Gurukol"
The mark is a turban on the head of a student in the act of learning. A turban has long stood for a person who has learned something well. Its colors are not decoration: each one stands for mastery of a different part of knowledge and life. That is the whole idea behind this site in one image, before a single word of copy gets read.
The name
Gurukol echoes gurukul, the traditional model of education built around a teacher's household: a student lived and learned directly under a guru, and what was taught was passed on, not sold. This site is a modern, written version of that same idea. The content here exists to be taught, not gated behind a signup form the moment it gets useful.
What we're building
The mission is simple to state and harder to keep: everything touching family and their needs, taught for free. Education is the first area, because it is the site's original identity and the clearest place to prove the model works. More areas of family life are planned once this one is genuinely built out, not started in parallel with it.
Free comes first on purpose. A family has no reason to trust a course, a recommendation, or a comparison from a site that has not already been useful to them for nothing. Trust gets earned before anything gets sold, not the other way around.
How we write
Three rules apply to every guide on this site, without exception. A claim that is a fact, not an opinion, gets checked against a primary source, and that source is named at the bottom of the page. Every guide opens with a direct answer in its first hundred words, not a warm-up. And no school, app, or tutoring service has paid for a place in a recommendation; where a policy could not be verified, the guide says so plainly instead of guessing.
